"Nuts for Mutts" is a wonderful two-day event put on as a fundraiser for the Los Angeles rescue group "New Leash On Life." It is designed as both a festival and a Westminster spoof, with various mutts competing in categories that include beauty ratings but also:
friendliest dog
best physically challenged
fastest mutt
mystery mutt
most ear-resistible ears
best kisser
most obedient
best dressed
best wag
most toy/ball crazy
most vocal
best trick
best shedding mutt
And of course, BEST IN SHOW

This year it will be held on April 29 & 30 at Pierce College in Woodland Hills and will be hosted by Kim Basinger. There will be many other celebrity presenters. You can find out more about it, including how to get tickets, or to enter your mutt in any of the contests, become a volunteer, or learn about the vendors participating and how to become one at http://www.nutsformutts.com/

I am thrilled to tell you that for the first year since its inception, indicating a shift in the compassionate community towards awareness of the sentience and suffering of all animals, the vendor form this year states that "All food must be vegetarian!" On behalf of the factory farmed pigs and chickens, I send a huge thank you to the wonderful "New Leash on Life" team.

The website includes a promotional video that makes it clear how delightful the event will be. Check it out at:

Buster Dawn and I look forward to seeing you there.

Please forward this alert to all mutt-lovers in the Los Angeles area.

Yours and the animals',
Karen Dawn
