The Genesis Awards is like an animal friendly Oscars. It's a fun and glamorous event held every year at the Beverly Hilton (where the Golden Globes are held) where celebrity presenters gives awards to members of the major media who have done television shows and movies that helps animals. The motto is "Cruelty Can't Stand the Spotlight."
This year's awards, held last month, will air this weekend on Animal Planet, Saturday May 5th at 4:00pm EST/PST and Sunday May 6th at 8:00 am EST/PST. You can learn more and see pics/video from the event at http://www.humanesociety.org/genesis
Grab some pop corn and check out the show with your friends or family (best of all your fur family) -- it's fun. And why not take a moment to thank Animal Planet for airing it? Just go to
http://corporate.discovery.com/contact/viewer-relations/
Choose "Network/program related" from the pulldown menu. When asked what show you are commenting on choose "other" and then choose "General Question or Comment." Then offer your thanks for the Genesis Awards this weekend!
