WPFW, Washington DC's Pacifica Station, has been wonderfully supportive of animal issues of late.
During my recent trip to DC, we did a segment on their Friday drive time news about that weekend's national animal rights conference. And Gloria Minott also interviewed me separately, on Metro Watch, about my upcoming visit to Poplar Spring Animal Sanctuary.
Tomorrow morning, Tuesday October 21, during the station's fund drive, I will spend the whole hour speaking with Gloria Minott about animal issues, from 9:30 to 10:30 ET, right after Democracy Now. I hope animal advocates outside of DC will listen on line. It's easy, just go to http://www.wpfw.org and click the little yellow button that says WPFW live. DC folks can listen at 89.3 FM.
Public radio stations, such as WPFW, rely on fund drives to stay on air. There is nothing that makes it clearer to the management that listeners are enthusiastic about a show than its good performance during the fund drive. And nothing will make it clear to WPFW that listeners are enthusiastic about animal issues, than a successful fund drive during a show about animal rights. So, if you, as I do, see the media's support of animal issues as fundamental to the success of our movement, I hope you will support the show tomorrow. I am supporting it by donating dozens of books.
The Houston Pacifica station is the only major Pacifica station with a regular animal rights show, "Go Vegan Texas!" It would be great to demonstrate to WPFW, in Washington DC, where our nation's decision makers live, that an animal issues show would do well.
I will so enjoy getting to say hello to some listeners from around the country, so if you are awake, please phone in!
Yours and the animals',
